As a business owner, you’re busy developing new products or services and making sure your business runs smoothly. You probably don’t have time to reconcile your bank account or generate balance sheets to manage your cash flow, let alone read up on the latest tax laws to find out which tax breaks you can take advantage of.
When you first started out, and money was tight, the do-it-yourself method of accounting might have worked just fine. But now that you have employees, pay estimated taxes, and need to manage your cash flow better, it’s time to find a trusted advisor to partner with all year long--not just at tax time.
Here is what we do for you:
The IRS, as well as state and local governments, imposes strict deadlines for business tax obligations. Missing these tax deadlines and failing to comply with payroll and sales taxes negatively impacts your bottom line and may result in fines for non-compliance.
As your trusted advisor, we make sure you stay on top of your tax obligations and avoid penalties and fees that reduce your profitability.

It depends on how your LLC is structured. A single-member LLC is taxed as a sole proprietor by default and files a Schedule C with your personal return. A multi-member LLC files a partnership return (Form 1065) with K-1s for each member. If you have elected S-Corp taxation, you file Form 1120-S. Washington State also has its own Business and Occupation (B&O) tax, which applies to gross receipts regardless of your federal entity classification. We sort through all of this for you and make sure you are filing correctly at both the federal and state level.
Washington State does not have a corporate income tax, but it does have the B&O tax, a gross receipts tax that applies to most businesses operating in WA regardless of profitability. That means you can have a loss year and still owe B&O tax. The rate depends on your business classification. Many business owners from out of state are not aware of this obligation when they start operating in Washington. We make sure our business clients understand and stay current on their B&O obligations.
S-Corp and partnership returns are due March 15. C-Corp returns are due April 15. Sole proprietors file with their personal return, also due April 15. We file extensions automatically for all of our business clients when needed. Extensions extend the filing deadline only — not the payment deadline. If you owe tax, that amount is still due by the original deadline regardless of the extension. We track all deadlines for our clients and handle this proactively so nothing falls through the cracks.
Yes, and this is one of the highest-value advisory conversations we have with business clients. The right entity structure can save thousands of dollars annually, but the wrong one can create unnecessary complexity and cost. The decision depends on your income level, how you want to pay yourself, your growth plans, and your long-term exit strategy. We analyze your specific situation and give you a clear recommendation with the numbers to back it up, not a generic answer.
Ideally, we build a year-round relationship rather than a once-a-year filing appointment. Business tax situations change throughout the year; you hire employees, make equipment purchases, take on new contracts, or restructure ownership. These decisions all have tax implications that are much easier to address before December 31 than after. For new clients coming to us for the first time, reaching out in the fall gives us time to understand your situation before filing season begins.
Yes, and for most business owners this is the preferred approach. Your business and personal taxes are deeply interconnected, how you pay yourself, what you deduct, how your entity is structured, all of it flows through to your personal return. Preparing both together gives us a complete picture and ensures nothing falls through the gap between two separate preparers who do not communicate with each other.
